Sys Admin Day – Let’s Celebrate with Geeky Gifts!
Author: Amy Armitage
Without our System Admins.. Lunarpages would be defunct, redundant, useless, offline and pfffft (and that aint good)
Thanks to the male and FEMALE sys admins at Lunarpages!
The last Friday in July is System Admin Appreciation Day, so I’ve done some research on the kinds of gifts I think we should add to their wish list:
Pocket Protector – This is a MUST have item for all Sys Admins.
Harris Tweed Jacket – For that sophisticated look
Socks & Dodgy Sandals – Allow people to know with one glance the industry you work in.
Funky Spunky Glasses – We all know that the thicker your eye glasses.. the smarter you appear to be.
A LOUD 70’s polyester shirt. Demand attention as a snappy dresser. Polyester is ideal to keep you warm in those air conditioned cages.
Ear Muffs – Speaking of cold.. let’s make sure their ears are all fuzzy and warm.
Suspenders for men and women – Perfect for those fashionable high waisted jeans
Zoomshot Digital Snapshot Binoculars - These will enable them to keep a close eye on the servers..
Blokus - To keep them entertained and challenge their spacial perception while the servers are behaving.
A gift voucher for that special haircut - mmmmmmmm @ that!
BlackBerry - Yes.. I know these are outdated (I still have mine because I love BrickBreaker. My high score is 10,330. Our sys admins can not only instant message, browse and check mail while monitoring servers.. they can rise to the brickbreaker challenge.
A new hobby - Knitting is exhilarating and a great way to pass time. For the women sys admins.. knitting is a better way to pass time than being a career woman.
Mobile Phone Case - The perfect match to your green sandal socks!
You all know our address! Show our Sys Admins how much you appreciate them!

I think Stephie is acting a little shy about what she really wants. In our IRC channel she mentioned a Deer Stalker

I think they should wear the socks and sandals with the ear muffs and then make a video and send it to Googleidol.com and REPRESENT Lunarpages!

That deer stalker hat is snappy doo.

Holy crap @ those jeans on that chick! How high is the waist on those?
July 28th, 2006 at 7:12 pm
Ugh I am amazed women ever wore those. Seriously they must be so uncomfy.

Happy SysAdmins Day! Sending you all my love and kisses (yeah even the women). Crocheting is better than knitting though. Julia Roberts may knit on the set but that’s just because she hasn’t crocheted. You never drop a stitch when the server acts up while crocheting.

I think something along the lines of this is more appropriate: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/frustrations/31fb/ [T-Shirt: Reads"(I read your e-mail."]
Why? Because it’s true!
Haha, is he kidding?
…who can say.
