Delegate OR Die

Author: Amy Armitage

So I’ve been with Lunarpages for about 6 years now, and in that time I’ve never taken a real vacation. It’s not because they chained me to my desk and demanded excellence, or because there was never a right time. I really think it’s because I have no idea how to truly relax and make like a river and FLOW.

If for the last six years, I’ve basically been an overachiever, unable to delegate and “let it go” how in the heck am I supposed to simply switch off and chill out?

I’ve been up since 4am this morning because I can’t sleep. These dark hours are the times I prefer to write my blog entries or articles for PingZine and OISV. I think my biggest challenge right now is learning how to JUST be Amy on vacation and not a web host woman.

How does one delegate? It came up in a meeting yesterday that I should get myself a personal assistant. A whiz who can do all those tasks I do myself so I’m freed up for the bigger stuff. One of my associates rolled his eyes and laughed because he knows me better than anyone. Amy is a control freak.

Seriously… the thought of having an assistant to even make me a cup of coffee kills me. I’m at the point where I’m thinkin.. Ok.. So.. I delegate something tedious to this amazing (handsome, male, spiffy dressing..) assistant (If this is a daydream then I can have a HE with a James Bond accent) and I feel guilty and worried he’ll get it wrong. WTF is wrong with me people? I’m guilty bout asking a PRETEND assistant to make me coffee. Gawd…

I need some pointers on how to turn off the internet connection in my head..

Just repeat after me: Internet=Bad, Beach=Good.

I’m the same way with about everything, work, computers, home repair, car repair, etc. And it’s just reinforced by the fact that I’ve found so few I can trust to really do the job right.

Hi Amy! Well, now that I can read for myself all the hard work and dedication you put into LP, I can really appreciate you. Doesn’t it feel great to be appreciated?

But the control freak in you will hold you back from achieving your greatest potential in life. If you’re willing to try letting it go, I’d really suggest a brain entrainment CD called Holosync. Use my link to read the affiliate site for it that I wrote, designed, and built myself. I’m still working on it, so it’s still in development. I’ve been using Holosync for about three years and it has helped me drop issues and baggage, and it helps me go into a deep meditative state that slows the brainwaves down enough to allow lasting and positive emotional changes to happen.

A friend of a friend whom I have only met twice told me that on first impression I seem very calm, like I should be in a therapeutic profession. So… how did I end up a webmaster?
