Since the emergence of Ask and the death of Jeeves it seems like Ask.com has really been pushed into high gear. Ask’s marketing team has done a great job of getting the word out by recently attacking Google in a TV ad which said “The reason people search Google is not because its better but because its more popular”. I would have to disagree with that statement as I have seen much more accurate results pulled from Google then I have from Ask.com. This could be do to many things but I think 2 reasons stand out to me. 1. Lack of spiders which means less pages indexed in their database and 2. Their algorithm has not been developed enough YET to gain reliability in search. People don’t just use Google because it is popular; we also use it because it pulls more accurate results for our search terms.
Ask.com’s development team has also put some cool tools together that help people search like a preview mode. Most recently they have started a newer 3 panel view of ask.com located HERE. This new 3 panel display is supposed to be super secret they said which of course is a ploy on viral marketing.

It looks like they are looking to the user for ideas so if you have any ideas about how to improve Ask.com then let them know and who knows, you may see your suggestions live on ask.com.
