Tips for Online Success
Author: Mitch Keeler
I have sometimes been known to be the guy that folks come to for advice on making a name for yourself Online. Now I know my popularity is nothing more than a blip on the World Wide Web’s radar, and there are those out there that might be better, faster, and stronger than me. I can tell you though that it never hurts to try something new.
When it comes to getting your Web site to become the next big thing or even just to have a small audience, you have to try a few things out before you figure out what sticks. Here are my personal tips that I have gone through and hopefully you can learn from.
Don’t be afraid to try something new.
You have to get yourself attention in one way or another, so new things are a good way to gain eyeballs. Start up a podcast about your Web site’s main topic. Do a video podcast with some friends and post it on there as well. Start writing and see if you have a skill at that. There are many directions that a Web site and content in general can go these days.
You will never know what you are good at unless you try everything once.
Most of my Online related success stories are nothing more than accidents. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Try your best not to ignore lady luck when she comes knocking at your door. Let say your friend thinks it might be a good idea to go a different direction with your Web site. You don’t want to, but you give it a shot anyways. It turns out your friend might have been right and your now better off for it.
Taking advice from the public is also a hard thing to do. Well, it is hard when they dislike something that you thought was really cool at least. On the podcast I produce each week I used to have one Web site sponsor each segment. I thought it was a neat way to promote other folks in the hosting industry.
It turns out – half my show was an ad and I had some people stop listening. Having learned from that, I cut my ads down to one and got a few of those listeners back. Do not let your pride get in the way of your success. Go out there and look for opinions, and if you are lucky you will get more than a few that will help you out.
To sum it all up, with a brand new year in front of us – don’t be afraid to be different. A forest can be filled with trees, but the tree wearing the clown suit is going to be the one that gets the most attention.

First post of the year :)
Well in my opinion procrastination is the worst problem. Try to do a lot of things at the same time, delaying the most important ones, and the online sucess will be farther away…
