Lunar Logo Design Tips

Author: Mitch Keeler

When it comes to creating a logo or banner for your web site, many people go to outside sources because they thing this is all too hard for them to do. They are not artists or designers, so why do the hard work? Well you can save yourself some dough and perhaps learn a new trade if you decide to go it alone and design it yourself.

Don’t be Afraid to Doodle Your Logo First

Start sketching down designs on a piece of paper. You don’t have to be an artist. You just need to get some idea of what you want it to look like. After you are done, wad that up and throw it aways. (consider that your warm up) Then do around five more doodles and try to make each different.

Find Inspiration in Your Name

A lot of great logos have just text and some sort of shape around them - that is another thing to take into consideration too. Does your web site have something that people could relate to your brand? For example, with Lunarpages - you see lunar. With lunar you think of night time or the moon. With the moon you think of space. You see if I was designing a Lunarpages logo those would all be background ideas to try out. See how easy that was?

Tools for Logo Design?

You don’t need Photoshop to design an award winning logo. Just launch the best picture editor you have on your machine and play around with shapes and fonts. If your looking for a suggestion on a free tool to use - I would highly suggest picking up Paint.net. It is the best free image editor out there today.

Remember to keep it unique, because when people see your logo you want them to relate that to you and you alone. Too many people go with generic logos, and those are the ones that will most likely be forgotten. Try to do something different and I promise you will be happy with the final result.
