Weekend Project – Create a Google-Friendly Sitemap

Looking for something to keep you busy over the Memorial Day weekend?  If so, how about you create a sitemap?  Better yet, you could create a Google-friendly site map so that you could then turn around and submit it to Google’s Webmaster Tools service, so you can retrieve better information on and how Google crawls and indexes your web site.

How to begin?  Google themselves have posted up a pretty good script to use if you have a static web site you want to create a sitemap for.  The sitemap generator might require a little hands on work, but should help you get the job done.

Is there an easier way? If you are using a content management script, you might search for a plugin or tool that will do it for you.  For example, WordPress users can create a sitemap easily by using the Google (XML) Sitemaps Generator

Once you have it created, be sure to go visit the official Google Webmaster Tools web site, so you can submit your creation to them.
