An Interview with Lunarpages’ Marketing Manager
Diane Van Pelt joined the Lunarpages team in November 2009. From research to implementation, Diane has us covered. This month we took the time to get to know Diane better and share with you.
What is your official job title here at LP?
My official title is Marketing Manager, but I also spend a lot of time with vendors, webinars and research.
Fill us in on your day to day tasks.
I handle the outgoing Marketing efforts for Lunarpages as well as research on programs and products that can benefit and strengthen Lunarpages as a company. Additionally, I work with the Social Marketing team to help ensure our presence on social platforms.
How long have you worked at Lunarpages?
A year and 9 months. it seems like much longer…
What did you do before Lunarpages?
I’ve worked in Sales and Marketing for more years than I can count. Anywhere from Xerox, Canon, and Sharp to Comcast and Time Warner.
What made you decide to join our Family?
I wanted to be part of a company that was growing and Internet based. I believe this is the future; and still do. I also really like the people here; competent, professional and dedicated.
Have you worked in any other departments at Lunarpages?
No, just Marketing.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
Deadlines and good graphical design to meet our vision for the future.
What direction do you anticipate Lunarpages Marketing heading towards?
Our direction is simple…we want to be a household name.
Could you tell us about the top three aspects of marketing that you most value?
1) Advertising Programs; I love clever innovative plans that help get the messaging across without being stupid or corny. 2) Research; One of the most valuable part of my job is investigating companies to partner with. Often, there are companies that are perfect for what we need. 3) And Vendors; Having been in sales for so long I really get a kick out of talking with them. I know a good presentation when I see one and I really enjoy listening to someone who really knows their product and therefore really likes it…that always comes across.
Who is the most fun to work with of all the LP crew?
I can’t pick one person as I get a kick out of most everyone here.
We recently got you involved with supporting our social media (Twitter/Facebook). What do you like about that aspect of your job?
I have been on LinkedIn and Facebook for some time before this and I really like the professional connections. I get leads especially from LinkedIn for the Sales team as often as I can. It’s interesting to see how differently people communicate with social media as opposed to e-mail. It is so much more down to earth and free thinking.
If you weren’t working here, where do you think you’d be?
Probably another IT based company. I love this industry and the constant changes.
What do you like to do in any other spare time you find?
I am a huge animal rights advocate so I spend a lot of time with my animals as well as others who share the same interest. I also love sports (football in particular) and crossword puzzles; my friends and enjoying being in California.
And now for some usual LP Fun, what (or who) is your favorite and why…
Animal? Easy – Dogs and Cats mostly
Pet? Ginger, and Lucky my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels; and Mickey my 18 year old cat who loves to talk; yes I said talk…lol
Place to vacation? Hawaii, any island will do. I also love New Orleans. Fun, fun, fun!
Place to live? Orange County California; great weather, beautiful, easy access to the beaches, mountains and the desert.
Movie? This would be a toss-up for ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Harry Potter’.
Phone App? Crosswords – one of my quiet time hobbies.
Season of the year? I love Christmas time. I am a decorating crazy person during that time. My house looks like a department store selling ornaments and lights.
